Hi, I'm Callum, a graphic designer with a passion for creating work that is both visually appealing and purposeful. For me, design has always been about more than simply making things look good. It's about communicating ideas, solving problems, and creating experiences that people remember.
My journey into design started at a young age. Growing up, I loved drawing and painting, but I quickly realised that traditional art wasn't where my strengths truly lay. I've always enjoyed working with computers, and it was through experimenting online that I first discovered graphic design. At around 12 or 13 years old, I started creating logos for friends, and what began as a simple hobby soon developed into something much bigger.
Like many designers, I spent countless hours watching tutorials, experimenting with new techniques, and teaching myself the fundamentals of design. Every project became an opportunity to learn something new, and with each design I created, my passion for the industry continued to grow.
When the time came to choose my GCSE subjects, I noticed Graphic Communication on the list. There was no hesitation, I knew exactly what I wanted to pick. For the first time, I was able to study something I genuinely loved in an academic setting. It gave me the opportunity to develop my skills, explore different areas of design, and gain a deeper understanding of visual communication.
After finishing school, I continued my studies at college, choosing to further my education in graphic design. Those years helped shape not only my technical abilities but also my understanding of the creative industry and the type of designer I wanted to become. There were challenges along the way, as there are with any creative journey, but the support of my parents, combined with my own determination to improve, kept me moving forward.
Today, I continue to approach design with the same curiosity and enthusiasm that first sparked my interest all those years ago. Whether I'm working on branding, social content, marketing materials, or personal projects, I'm always looking for new ways to grow, challenge myself, and create meaningful work. What started as designing logos for friends has evolved into a career that I genuinely love, and I'm excited to see where the journey takes me next.

Beyond Design
When I'm not designing, you'll usually find me out on the roads running, listening to music, or playing cricket. I take pride in staying active, as I find it helps me stay positive and balanced in other areas of life. Being outdoors is important to me, it keeps me grounded, clears my head, and often gives me space to reset away from the screen.
Running is a big part of my routine. I try to get out as often as I can, and I see it as more than just exercise. It’s something that helps me switch off after a long day, release stress, and reset my mindset. I also find it incredibly important for mental wellbeing and focus, especially during creative blocks. I enjoy competing in races, particularly half-marathons, and next year I’m aiming to push myself further by taking on a full marathon. I’m always looking to improve my times and become a stronger, faster version of myself.
Cricket has also played a huge role in my life. Growing up, I played for Durham Academy with ambitions of becoming a professional cricketer. Last year, I was released, which was a difficult moment, but it also gave me perspective. It made me realise that life isn’t defined by one path, and that there is so much more out there to explore. It also pushed me to fully commit to design, which is what I’m most passionate about today. I still play regularly at the weekend and really enjoy being part of the game.
Music is another big part of my everyday life. I listen to almost anything and often have something playing whenever I’m on my own. I find music incredibly powerful, it can shift my mood, improve my focus, and motivate me depending on what I’m working on or how I’m feeling.
